medmix strengthens its sustainability commitments

Baar

medmix, global leader in high-precision delivery devices, is further strengthening its footprint in sustainable products and eco-design across all its segments, and delivers results. The company has committed to SBTi adopting the 1.5°C emission goal. It has successfully been assessed by CDP, and it has aligned with the UNGC principles. Separately, medmix has been awarded EcoVadis best-in-class ratings.

SBTi, CDP and UNGC

Completing the journey that started in its Beauty segment, medmix committed to the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi) Net-Zero Standard, setting a robust emissions reduction target at the pace and scale required by climate science. As such, the company joins the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign – the world’s largest and fastest-growing group of companies that are aligning with 1.5°C to help halve global emissions by 2030. The SBTi aims to speed the transition to a zero-carbon economy by boosting innovation and promoting sustainable growth.

medmix also completed its first CDP Climate Change assessment and obtained an “awareness” C rating. This means the company has already achieved its 2025 goal and matches the industry average – a solid result upon which further improvements will be made. The CDP allows a better understanding of the risks and opportunities related to business practices to reduce the impact on the environment.

“With a vision beyond climate change, we also committed to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) by making its principles part of our business strategy”, said Girts Cimermans, CEO of medmix. “We officially support the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and will do all we can to help achieve them.” The UNGC aims to mobilize a global movement of sustainable companies and stakeholders to create a better world.

EcoVadis

According to EcoVadis, medmix has secured top-notch ratings for select production plants. Ensuring the same sustainable level across its worldwide network, medmix is committed to achieve the EcoVadis Gold rating for all its factory sites by 2025.

EcoVadis is the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, with a global network of more than 100,000 rated companies. In 2022, the medmix production sites in Haag, Switzerland, Dnescice, Czech Republic, and Elgin, USA received the EcoVadis Gold Medal for Sustainability. The medmix site in Hungerford, UK has been awarded the EcoVadis Silver Medal, while Sao Paolo, Brasil received a Bronze rating.

“EcoVadis is the global benchmark for independent ratings in Sustainability. We are proud to be awarded the strongest EcoVadis medals for various medmix plants. We have already achieved a lot and remain at full speed ahead to secure similar results for all our sites by 2025,” said Cimermans.

“This would not be possible without our highly skilled and motivated team across the business that drives our sustainability strategy. We strive to be an employer of choice within our industry and a good neighbor in our communities, with flat hierarchies and a culture of mutual respect”.

A trailblazer within the company, medmix Beauty brand GEKA, leading provider of high precision cosmetics application solutions, has recently received an EcoVadis Platinum Sustainability rating for the third time in a row. This accolade places the medmix segment in the top 1% of companies within its industry.

medmix uses a lot of know-how from the Beauty market where consumers have had long-standing affinity for sustainable products and implements it across other divisions. As such, the brand’s Industry segment has recently launched MIXPAC™ greenLine™ B-System with the first cartridge with 100% recycled materials, an upgrade of F-System with a 100% recycled greenLine™ bayonet ring, and the first MK dispenser on PCR basis as a sustainable option.
